Re: A question about spells

It is based on the caster's level. Say for the light spell, a 1st level magic-user casts it so it last 7 turns or a little over an hour. Now a 10th level magic-user casts it. Now it lasts 16 turns or almost 3 hours. It does get somewhat confusing but just remember that spell level is just a classifi...

Re: Questions about rolling dice

Hmm that makes me wonder if a notoriety system could be handy, to figure out if an NPC has heard of your PC's Something simple would probably do the trick, roll 1d20 for players level or less to be known. I used a simple roll under mechanic rep check. 1d20 vs Level + Cha bonus + other bonuses such ...

Re: Questions about rolling dice

I make a reaction roll just to get the initial attitude the npc/monster has prior to the encounter with the PCs then it is affected by words and actions by the PCs.

Re: The Silver Standard

I left the prices alone in my games but just reduced the amount of gold found along with being very tight fisted with non-consumable magic items such as swords or armor. When my players found 100 silver pieces they thought they were rich as they normally only found copper and a few silver. They lear...

Re: Interactions with objects

As others mentioned/covered drinking potions, I will mention somethings that happened in my games and how I ruled it. In one game I had a player spot (detect traps) a pit trap just before combat started. He wanted to know if it would take an action to get to the level on the wall and pull it which w...

Re: Combat questions, fallen monsters/diagonal combat

In some old games I used fallen bodies as a movement adjustment such as cost additional 5 ft to move through the space. I treat various terrain the same way. Going through light brush cost an additional movement, maybe additional 1 or 2 ft. This usually just causes the character to move one hex / sq...

Re: Basic Fantasy Campaign Setting idea

I've been working on a similar setup in Roll20. I'm taking Morgansfort and placing all the various adventures for the AA series around the fort based on their location descriptions.

Re: Additional classes in print?

Many people take the odt files and make themselves their own compilation then print them out. I heard some tried out pod services to print out a book and others just print out on their home printers then hole punch and put them into a binder.

Re: Combo Elf Fighter/Magic User weapons?

I have ruled before in my games that a buckler shield can be used while casting a spell as that type of shield is strapped on the arm and does not require the hand to be holding on it. I also have ruled "It depends on the spell description" when asked about using the normal listed shield w...
