Re: Combat with Floor Plans

Joe, nice to still see you around 8-) Couple nitpicks for your copyright dates: For your copyright date (both on the upper right of the first page and the bottom of the OGL page), it should read "2012-2013, 2015, 2018" (going by your changelog dates) On the OGL page, update the BFRPG date from "200...

Re: Combat with Floor Plans

That said, I do have one question: on page 9, in "Attacks from Behind", if Derval moved to the square directly "north" of the Goblin or Dunbar moved to the square directly "east" of the Goblin, wouldn't that make it possible for one of them to make an attack from behind with fewer than four attacke...

Release 4

Release 4 of Combat with Floor Plans has been uploaded to The Showcase. Changes as follows: - References to page numbers in the Core Rules have been removed as these sometimes change when the Core Rules are updated. They have been replaced with references to sections of the Core Rules (Characters, S...

Re: Combat with Floor Plans

Thanks for the feedback. Earlier in this topic, when I first started developing the supplement, there was quite a lot of discussion surrounding moving and turning within combat. What the supplement attempts to do is to retain the flexibility and dynamism of Old School combat within the confines of a...

Release 3

Release 3 of Combat with Floor Plans has been uploaded to The Showcase. The main driver for this latest release was to bring the supplement into line with the 3rd Edition of the Core Rules (with respect to page number references and monster lists). However, I also took the opportunity to update the ...

Re: RPG Primer and Old School Playbook

I'd forgotten I had this ... from 1982, " Dicing with Dragons - An Introduction to Role-Playing Games " by Ian "Fighting Fantasy" Livingstone. " This is the indispensable handbook for a new worldwide craze " Well worth a read if you can track down a copy on ebay (although the section on computer gam...

Re: RPG Primer and Old School Playbook

I've been giving it some thought and I'm really not sure about the statement " The Game Master is always right ". I think it's open to misinterpretation. Taken at face value (which is how a newcomer might take it), it doesn't bear out any of my real-life play experiences, either as a player or as a ...

Re: RPG Primer and Old School Playbook

Just one other point ... Do you think you might be unnecessarily limiting the potential readership by having the Old School focus? "Old School" will have different connotations to different people. For some, it will be a positive, but they are most probably the ones that don't need a primer. For oth...

Re: RPG Primer and Old School Playbook

A comment on dice ... Standard xdy dice notation is used throughout without explicitly explaining it (as is done, for example, in the Core Rules). This might not be so immediately obvious to the newcomer. Also the "funny-looking dice" themselves don't receive any sort of formal introduction. Again, ...

To be honest, I'd prefer all the auto stuff to be taken out. Ordinary boxes that are filled in manually are fine with me, and provide the most flexibility.
