Re: Xp Tables

I'm not really picky when it comes to writing styles but older D&D has always read weird to me. Maybe I'm the weird one? :P

Re: House Rules, Ideas and the Like

NPCs still need them, and whether or not they apply to monsters might depend on which monsters are used in the game. Depends on a lot of things. I usually make up numbers on the fly anyways if required. But I also don't roll for anything NPC-related unless it is appropriately dramatic or interestin...

Re: Xp Tables

I wouldn't say broken either... Just a combination of being difficult to get a hold of, weird writing and a few archaic rules that need restoration work. :)

Re: Xp Tables

...in whose world? Not mine. I am pretty lenient when it comes to this stuff anyways. Not all clerics are mushy do-gooders that refuse to use a scythe to reap a little havoc in the name of good. Personally, if I had the gusto... I'd create my own OGL-derived game in the vein of BFRPG that ...

Re: House Rules, Ideas and the Like

I am not knocking how you want your game to be; when I say I prefer a simpler game, I mean in the overall sense. While any one of your rule additions/modifications are likely very playable, the changes you propose alter the overall game mechanics somewhat. For instance, what skills/feats would I ne...

Re: Xp Tables

That's true. I've never actually played a cleric before, personally and when I introduce them into my campaigns they are usually a little weird. As in, they serve a death god or something cool like that... and wield a giant scythe. =P

Re: House Rules, Ideas and the Like

Skills/Feats and all the rules and considerations that go with them are not basic. They tend to come from a point of view that seeks to add a touch of realism... that with a bit more complexity we can have a lot more flavor. Let's just get this straight, bucko, your definition of Basic is different...

Re: Xp Tables

Indeed. Its sort of internal conflict I have. I think because cleric magic isn't almighty (but still very useful) that the few tweaks I did come out to some form of balance... not that a true balance can ever be achieved but I think the cleric and fighter are closer now than they were before. To me ...

Re: House Rules, Ideas and the Like

I was thinking... ... ... Saving Throws are kind of wonky when set next to the skill/feat system I devised. So I'm going to replace them with Feat checks. :) Races that receive bonuses against specific types of saving throws will have to be modified a bit but nothing that a few lines of text won't a...
