Re: BFRPG Kickstarter

Just been reading through all of this. Lots of interesting points and, god it would be nice if Lulu did boxes (I'm pretty sure Gamecrafter dont make them in the right shape or size to please the OSR nostalgia packaging junkies). I think its really important that you keep things simple as a community...

Basic Fantasy random play?

So I'm guessing that no-one here ever does random play? Some thoughts: I'm primarily thinking of a solitaire model - 1-2 characters minimum 3rd level onwards - perhaps the party number or levels can act as a multiplier when it comes the assessing the encounter difficulties (maybe based on total mons...

Re: Future Items

Cool, I'm liking what's already up there. I'm guessing it depends upon the style or type of future you're talking about. I find it difficult when talking about D&D-clones with future weapons without going a bit "pulpy" or "sword and planet" - I want reasons to keep the swords next to the rayguns. Al...

Re: Future Items

Random thoughts ... (a bit influenced by reading Tales of the Space Princess) Holtzman Shield (from Dune) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holtzman_effect A simplified version of this effective against bullets, rays and blasts- but can be penetrated by the "slow blade". -Which justifies special melee co...

Basic Fantasy random play?

(Edited to respect forum guidelines) I've been working on some square geomorphic style tiles for figures http://bit.ly/squaredungeontiles and http://bit.ly/4x4bonus I'm thinking about using the BF system -or perhaps T&T5- (more for fun, not so much as a product for profit) to create a random dungeon...

Re: Templars

Lots of interesting ideas and definitions in this thread. I think for me the class presented in the first post is almost too anti-magical (apologies for any repeated thoughts/comments from posts above) - but the concept works well in a campaign where divine power it's at odds with magic. It would be...

Map layout and free crypt room (Inked Adventures)

Hi dudes! Some of you may have seen this on my facebook links and blogs, but I thought I'd do a general "share" here as well for posterity, especially since here there is sometimes an appreciation for "older ways". (apologies for triple-posting...) Promo / sample layout of some of my dungeon floor p...

Re: JN1 The Chaotic Caves

There seems to be a few for AD&D I think. Whatever the case, Mr Neal, you've done the spirit of B2 proud. (if that makes sense) :)

I like the fact that early on you state very clearly that it is *not* an introductory adventure. Here's to completeness, hurrah!

Re: BFRPG at used bookstore

I've met a few booksellers over the years. When one would get down to last copy he'd raise the price regardless of how common or rare the book was in the outside world. Also, a lack of printing information makes sellers assume that they have a first edition. Maybe BFRPG isn't in the usual databases ...

Re: Empire of the Ebon Throne (Dark Basic Fantasy)

Kept alive to serve the Gods, but for what purpose? What further sinister machinations must be visited upon the human race once the Elder Gods have triumphed?
