Re: Basic Fantasy Field Guide Volume 3

Nice.

Regarding size. I'd say between 1 and 3 feet of diameter.
Will-o'-Wisps are about 1 foot in diameter and I love monsters that look like other monsters.

Re: Basic Scifi Role-Playing Game

Vance did quirky, somewhat comedic (but not like Discworld) fantasy. It was supposedly one of Gygax's influences, but I never cared for it all that much; read The Marvelous Rhialto and one or two of the Cugel books because "everyone said I should." Re: Basic Scifi Role-Playing Game

So, the smart thing to do is to have a standard "credit" which can be electronically transferred, and not think too hard about it otherwise. The issue with that is that you need a central bank of some sort to have a standard credit. Right now we have national currencies and the value of those curre...

Re: Basic Scifi Role-Playing Game

Still, in Basic Fantasy, the economy is well defined. There is a universal currency based on precious metals. The price of things is listed in the core rules and expended elsewhere. Monster entries list how much treasure they normally carry and hoard. It's very economically driven. Do you plan to co...

Re: Basic Scifi Role-Playing Game

Well, the Basic Fantasy stories are mostly just economically driven; poor adventurers looking for riches. Who needs gold and jewels if they are not scarce? I suppose you can abstract China as a huge fabricator that can produce anything anyone needs and only needs some food and some energy in return....
