Re: The "x in 6" chance of doing something, as per the rules
I wrote a little something on the subject, it's in the showcase: https://www.basicfantasy.org/showcase.cgi?sid=56

Re: 2E BFRPG vs 3E
Elves are allowed to become Thief/MU combination class in 3rd edition, it wasn't so in 2nd edition.

Re: Basic Scifi Role-Playing Game
Regarding setting: In the core book I'd leave it as vague as possible. A huge, unnamed political entity ruled by humans governs a vast part of the galaxy. That's it. How vast is the human Galactic state? How powerful? Where is Earth? What's its status? Do humans KNOW there's Earth somewhere? Are the...

Re: Basic Scifi Role-Playing Game
I'd love to see a BSFRPG, and I'm willing to help! It's actually something I've been giving a lot of thought over the years. I think that for starter an Asimov/Vance heavily humanocentric Space Opera is the way to go with the implied setting. No Teleport, no post-scarcity, no transhuman. But see my ...

Re: Why play a human?
Leveling everybody at the same time is probably the only way I can think of of actually, surely, breaking the game. Don't. If you think 10% XP bonus isn't enough remember that: All demi-humans have one Stat that is limited at 17. Elves and halflings (and others) have HD limits. Humans are the only o...

Re: A Comment on the "Companion"/Advanced Question
The blog post on Rangers is up. Hopefully this style of writing vill be useful to new players. Nice, however there's a slight inaccuracy in the description of how the Simple Weapon Mastery supplement works. Under these rules the fighter character doesn't have to select a weapon of choice, instead i...

Re: Are half-elves infertile?
I think of them as fertile.
If their mate is an elf the offspring will be an elf, and human if the offspring is human.
Half-elves only beget half-elves if they mate with other half-elves.
But that's me.

Re: A Comment on the "Companion" Question
Animal companions and class-specific spells have been a fixture of the ranger class in the more recent iterations of the original game. Maybe worth discussing?Longman wrote: Can anyone think of any more issues that might be discussed in this way regarding rangers?
