A couple of ideas I had
While I was rolling up a new character I had a couple of house-rule ideas. These ideas come to me from game mechanics that are in the Star Wars SAGA edition. I wanted to get some feedback from you guys that have more experience with this game's mechanics. AC could be calculated as such, AC= Armor bo...

Re: unable to open a door...
I really like the hidden key idea. Duh, couldn't think of that on the fly... Thanks for the ideas. While playing I just kept in mind that this is not a rules-heavy game like Star Wars SAGA that we've played. Just keep it simple to keep the game moving. The way I had them get through the door, by the...

unable to open a door...
Well, while camping, my two boys and I ran our first BFRPG game. We kept it simple, just the two of their characters, one is a human barbarian and the other is an Elf thief. Two questions came up. While in the wilderness trying to get to a known dungeon enterance, the PC's were attacked by 4 orks. I...

Re: Spellcaster success rolls + target saving throws?
I might make a house rule on this. Roll 1d10 and on a roll of 1 the spell cannot be cast ( fumble ). On second thought, maybe same thing on a 1d20 roll to give a 5% chance of failure. 5% sounds reasonable. It will almost never happen, so the origonal idea of automatically casting a spell is pretty m...

Re: pets
The Almanac has a second level Jester spell called Charm Animal on the jester spell list, but there is no spell called Charm Animal under that in the spell description section. The spell description was omitted. Also, there is no "Familiar" spell listed there at all. I'm looking at the &qu...

How do you handle pets or familiar animals? I have a character concept that I would like to have own a pet ferret that would somehow help him. Think "Beast Master" without all the skin... ;) Maybe the ferret could help with detecting monsters, or collecting small objects like keys, or snea...

Re: other Basic games
I'd like to see a Sci-Fi (StarWars) setting, and a modern military setting (Call of Duty 4 style)

condition track
Anyone ever play around with a condition track (ah lah Star Wars SAGA) where if you are attacked and the monster/NPC badguy hits with enough damage to beat your "damage threshold" number without killing you, you're AB and your AC will suffer a -1 until you are healed? This has a ladder eff...

Re: Turning undead question
AHHHHHH! I SEE NOW! I just had to get my head around the hit-die thing. 2D6 rolled = how many hit dice worth of monsters can be turned. So with that example it would be possible for 3 zombies and 1 skeleton to be turned, or 7 skeletons or 1 spectre, or 1 wraith and 1 wight, but not a mummy and a wra...
