Re: Does Maximum HP remain the same when characters level up?
That would be about right for a 1st level Cleric, Thieves and Magic Users on the other hand would only gain an extra 1.5 hit points. At max hit points they still have only 4 hp, and can be killed in 1 swing by any random orc, goblin, or kobold. . I can understand the reasons you might not want mage ...

Re: Does Maximum HP remain the same when characters level up?
I looked at the numbers, and it seems it would only give you on average about 0.8hp/level, Screenshot 2021-01-07 010331.png I used to give my players "0 level" hit points, an extra 1d8 starting hit points on the assumption that the had been townsfolk before they became adventurers. That wo...

Re: Does Maximum HP remain the same when characters level up?
I will add that, while not by the book, it's always been a very common and popular house rule to re-roll all the HD when a character levels up and to take the higher value. In practice this gives the character a very small survivability boost. I had not heard of this practice, but I was thinking of...

Re: Overland adventures.
I did some further thinking about the numbers I laid out, I was doing this for an adventure, so I was using a Hex size of 3 miles, which worked well for what I was doing. However other people might use different size hexes, and 3 miles might not scale easily to all of them. Atleast not without using...

Overland adventures.
I have been working on an adventure for a while now, and it features alot of overland travel and exploration. I wrote some expanded travel rules to supplement the rules in the main Basic Fantasy rulebook. I have gone thru a few different concepts of the rules, and I would appreciate some feedback. H...

Re: Mapping software for modules
I try to avoid grays in anything that will go to print, as I've found print-on-demand vendors vary a lot in their gray reproduction. That's why none of our tables use alternating gray bars. Good to know, I reworked it a bit to remove most of the greys, it is stil not completely B&W. for example...

Re: Mapping software for modules
Thanks for the feed back, It is good to hear your opinion on the map. Ideally it would be a color map, but I understand the publishing constraints. The conversion wasn't so much dithering as converting the color tiles to black and white overlays, and then adding a monochrome background. I wanted the...
