Re: The Gaming Gang reviews BFRPG
Basic Fantasy was one of the very first OSR games to be released; there was no model for how it should be done. When I described the game, I was careful to play up the SRD connection, in hopes that it would help me in case WoTC decided they didn't like my whole clone-the-old-game idea. I mean, it's...

Re: Your favorite BFRPG Class and why?
I'm usually a Cleric guy but when it comes to playing BFRPG, something I rarely do as opposed to running it, I really like the Paladin from the Rangers & Paladins supplement. I like being the moral compass of the party and being able to be the main tank while still providing some healing and sup...

Re: If First Level Clerics can't cast any spell then why are there First Level cleric spells?
This is a common mistake, I think. The first time I ever played DnD the disconnect between character level and spell level confused me too. It makes more sense when you play and understand the purpose behind spell levels and spells per day.

Re: Awarding XP
Initially I allowed my PCs to level when they rest but it tended to bog the game down because of the 3 spell-casters looking up spells while the 2 the non-casters twiddled their thumbs. Now I just do end of session, as is recommended.

Re: CS2 The Dark Temple
That's pretty cool. Looks like it would be at the header of a page in the old Vampire: The Masquerade book.Zoltors Inkwell wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 8:19 pm Did this but not sure if it fits any particular section. Feel free to us it if you can find a spot for it.summon.png

Re: Feedback for small addition to Fighters
Combat Options is the best way to go I think. Makes Fighters more interesting without adding too much bloat or upsetting balance. I have found that players derive a lot of roleplaying satisfaction from specializations.

Re: Idea: Soak
DR or Damage Resistance, a coveted effect in DnD 3.5 where I started. I've considered introducing it but the more I run BFRPG the less I miss the mechanics I'm used to which are not present. That said; it would be pretty easy to graft 3.5's DR into BFRPG with very little work since BFRPG is an OGL g...

Re: Higher level campaigns
My players are in the 7 - 10 range now and are mostly leading military campaigns. They're not really running domains but they did install a new Emperor in Urd and are acting as his general staff in a campaign to reconquer the southern continent of the Western Lands. My players have had a lot of fun ...

Re: Firbolg!
Maybe some kind of animalistic ability? Caneins for instance (Field Guide Caneins, not sure about the playable supplement ones) have a scent tracking racial ability.
