Re: What is a spellbook worth?

Wow! Then that spellbook found in the haunted house of U1 might be worth a pretty penny if the players can find a suitable buyer. If they didn't feel like they were getting good market value, maybe the could host an auction as a roleplaying opportunity.

I appreciate the input.

What is a spellbook worth?

Let's say my PCs recovered an NPC's spellbook. It contains 1st and 2nd level spells, 3 of each. How much would this typically sell for under normal circumstances? I couldn't find a rules reference. Thanks.

Re: Encounter Rates vs AD&D

Yeah, Saltmarsh.

Oh right, 1d6 for BFRPG. I may stick to BFRPG just to practice at those rates.

Encounter Rates vs AD&D

I plan to run U1 tomorrow. The haunted house calls for random encounters on a 1 out of 12 every turn. How would this compare with BFRP since the module is AD&D? I believe BFRPG is 1d8 every 3 turns normally. Should I run it as the module states or use BFRPG's normal rate or some variant? Any tho...

Re: Movement Rates clarifications

Oops, my math is off...so it is something like this. BFRPG dungeon square = 10 sq ft 1 Turn of exploration = 120ft or 12 squares on the dungeon map Wandering Monsters = check every 3 Turns or roughly 36 squares of movement on the dungeon map This is of course at an unencumbered rate. I'm just lookin...

Re: PCs and Enemies noticing each other

If the thief fails his roll then the GM can have the guards automatically notice the thief or he can decide to use the surprise rule mechanic to represent the guard's awareness. 4)If the guards fail their surprise check, they are unaware of the thief at that moment. Thanks for the numbered sequence...

Movement Rates clarifications

I am looking for some clarifications on movement rates. A Combat Round is 10 seconds long. How far can a PC or monster move during a combat round? Is this the number referenced on bestiary references? For PCs I am right now under the impression this is 40' (depending on encumbrance), but I'm not sur...

PCs and Enemies noticing each other

Could anyone give me a sequential order play listing the mechanics when it comes to things like monsters and PCs noticing each other? As a referee, I want to confidently be able to determine if the PCs and the monsters notice each other, rules as written. Page references would be handy. Here are som...
