Re: Looking for a short one-shot

Yeah, two hours is short. A lair encounter is best. There are two old dnd supplements called "The Book of Lairs" that are really good for such encounters. J.D.'s "Monkey Isle" has some extra lair maps that you could use. Hope that helps

Re: Solomoriah Speaks E3 - An Impossible Review

I read the reddit OSR quite a bit and BFRPG is actually pretty well known and is regarded by most on that site as the best or one of the best OSR RPG's. I think it is getting a lot more well known. Honestly, I think one of the turn offs for BF is it's name. It's not got the same ring as Swords and W...

Re: Of Bards and Music

I would use Charisma as a bonus. I mean, the bard songs are all about inspiring folks to do better and be better . . . and that would seem to be a little bit more towards Charisma than Intelligence (although I can see a case for INT as well). I have had a character in my group be a bard and it was a...

Re: Low Level Survival

SmootRK's points are right on. The trouble is when you have a new group to RPG playing and they don't know to do these things. Most new players want to jump into the action. I mean, that's what you do with board games and video games and such. And that's why that some start new players out at 2nd or...

Re: Dragonscale Armor

I wouldn't give that high of an AC bonus though - +1 AC; protection again dragon breath . . . not much more than that. It's the cool factor of the armor that counts It's hard to think up of any penalties that would offset the bonuses of such armor. I mean, it's dragon scale . . . what's the down sid...

Re: Initiative?

I prefer to use the old-school one roll per side each round. The rare times I do use individual initiative, I use a d12 or d20 rather than d6. I swapped to this as well and really prefer it. It leads to the PC's acting more as a team to do an attack rather than just individual attacks. Individual i...

How do you deal with the 2 attacks per round, like with the Scout bow?
I allow that PC to do 2 attacks, just like I would with a monster who does multiple attacks

Re: [Poll] Which aspect of the OSR is most important to you?

I hit the "style of play the rules encourage" and it looks like majority have as well so far I personally do not see how that folks play the more rules heavy types of systems. Having to stop and look at rules and guides and such really bogs things down and can absolutely kill the fun. On a positive ...

Re: Module Inspirations

Something like Night's Dark Terror needs to be done.

I would love to see another anthology that was based upon wilderness adventures. It would be great to see how that others pull off wilderness adventures.

Re: City-based adventures?

I ran a city adventure a while back and we had a great time. I did a lot of research and this website had the best info (it even has a couple of free PDF's that are very helpful): https://themudworldblog.com/city-adventure-fantasy-roleplaying-game/ I ended up just going to donjon (https://donjon.bin...
