Monster Combat Worksheet
It's been a while, but I thought I'd share a side project and see if I can get it tweaked up by advice. I like converting adventures to play. It does mean I need to do monster listings. I decided to make a worksheet that I can fill in by hand while converting. By converting the monsters in order and...

"Beer and Pretzels" Style Character Sheets
So, I'm posting this solely because I haven't seen it here but maybe someone would find the concept interesting. I've got a group that (a) likes to get into things quickly, (b) doesn't like to read or write a lot, (c) thinks it's hilarious to play a very deadly BX-style game. Really does fit the old...

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype
This looks intriguing! When I have a bit more time next week I'll check it out. The beauty of Basic Fantasy is that you don't have to type all the spells in -- they're already in editable documents! So it was pretty easy making all the little latex mini pages. My plan was to try to hit on something ...

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype
Okay I am definitely able to create a simple card template (attached as cardtemplate.odt) with a simple content, duplicated it a bunch of times, and wrote it out. I used cut and paste to create nine "cards" in the template and then used zip to open the file. Everything was exactly as Solom...

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype
BTW, I would not survive on Windows without Cygwin (being a Unix guy myself). I know, right? People think that since I do computers that Windows is natural. It's quite the opposite mostly because so much is hidden from you in the name of simplicity. I learned python, but after 20 years of perl (and...

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype
When it comes to unpacking an odt document the joke writes itself: "And I thought they smelled bad on the OUTSIDE!" Just a joke, that's REALLY cool to be able to do that. I guess the next few steps are to try to find a card template I like (for libreoffice I have not had good luck with goo...

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype
Not at all! I should have thought of it...but was intent on trying to show what I was trying to do via example run.
Cheers!

Spellbook Generator Prototype
Okay, I went away for a couple of months but this weekend my son is recovering from ACL surgery and I have a lot of time sitting on my keester waiting to readjust a leg brace, add ice, change positions, and on and on and on as needed. So I decided to scratch my itch a bit more... This is I wanted to...

Spell Card Request Thread
Hi All, Sorry about the endless series of spell card posts over the past couple of weeks. I've found that these cards are a very convenient way of presenting my players with the exact capabilities of their magic as well as a reminder of what potential they still have left. So I'm a fan and I wanted ...
