Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype

Couldn't resists playing around with this so here is an example of a simple template based conversion. I stripped the spell info for a single spell (Magic Missile) into a YAML file and created a "text" and "latex" converter templates. The included script (spell_to_text.pl) uses the text template (sp...

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype

I was actually answering (late) to Pholus original entry.
I am very sorry to use such odd programming choices, but you go with what you know
Python has an actually syntax, not sure what I'd call what perl has.

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype

I forgot to add that I can get the this to work using Cygwin (cygwin.org) which more or less install a unix system on Windows. I just made sure the installation included the _texlive_ packages. texlive-collection-latex texlive-collection-latexextra texlive-collection-latexrecommended BTW, I would no...

Re: Spellbook Generator Prototype

Not sure why perl should be considered such an odd programming language. It has it's quirks (like a quite horrible syntax) but the text processing capability is really exceptional. And though it's not as popular as it was was a decade or two ago it's hardly obscure. The ODF::lpOD modules look like i...

Re: Magical Item Compendium

I was thinking of using the smaller items as something of a "get out of jail card" item for players to summon the smallest elementals (like spell I guess) on short notice (in combat). In any case I started out thinking about an "icicle" item for cold and it somehow ended up as multiple gems on a nec...

Re: Magical Item Compendium

I like items that has a fixed number of uses so here are some suggestions of items with limited use : Necklace of Ice - Jewelry with N detachable icicle shaped gems. Tear off (use up) a gem for each summoning. Tears of the Green Man - Bag of N large tear shaped seeds. Planting a seed will summon one...

Re: [IF] Monster Guidebook

Coming up with a original name for a monster book without accidentally selecting one already used by someone was probably easier a few decades ago. I always though "Fiend Folio" was a great name for a monster book and going for a similar alliteration style we could have something short like * Critte...

I did try another variant but I'm not sure it's any better.

Re: Magical Item Compendium

Borgar, do you take requests? I'd love to see a Horn of Doom. That's the item that casts Animate Dead when you blow it. Should be decorated in a, um, darker theme. I haven't been drawing that much lately but getting a request was flattering so I have made an attempt :D Not quite satisfied so I may ...

Re: AA2 Adventure Anthology 2

I'm not sure if you want to add more icons but if I had drawn this by hand I might have used something like elevation lines and have the number of lines indicate slooping This wouldn't be hard to add some support when it comes to narrow corridors. A few icons with different number of curves would do...
