Re: Creating a Human's only setting?
Actually if you play Intelligence right as a character, it has a big effect on role-playing. INT of 3 is incredibly dumb. Why an 18 is incredibly intelligent. Players rarely play their stats (INT WIS CHA) in role-playing. The hard part is playing an Intelligent character, when the player is not tha...

Re: Creating a Human's only setting?
Giving certain cultures or sub-sets of Humanity certain bonuses (and/or penalties) has its own issues. If your cultures or specific ethnicities have mirrors in the real world, then you may cross into grey areas of perceived bigotries. For instance, lets say there is a region that evokes similaritie...

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition
It just seems easy to miss, since someone would be calculating weight earlier then come to the table later in the book, then have to alter that.Solomoriah wrote:Not sure why you'd think that...

Campaign Setting: Isles of Maga
This is a continual work-in-progress, but I think the setting is already pretty large so it is worth sharing now. Isles of Maga is a campaign setting focused not so much on geographical details, but more on the history, cosmology, religion, and factions of the world. The entire region is composed of...

Re: Basic Fantasy RPG Core Rules 3rd Edition
The rule for Halfling armor weighing 1/4 the default is on page 36. Isn't this something that should be addressed earlier (or at least in the Beginner's Guide)? Otherwise it seems like a Halfling Fighter wearing plate is already carrying a heavy load.

Re: Vespertine Race
Thanks everyone for the feedback! Here are the changes that sound good to me: Remove the shriek attack. -1 vision impairment in bright light. Halfling bonus against large enemies (I meant to include this anyway but missed it). Deafened is not the same as blinded, but it does get rid of Darkvision. R...

Re: Vespertine Race
Thanks for the feedback! I think you are right that the sonic attack is overpowered, do you think decreasing the range to 60 feet or 30 feet is a good enough nerf? I really want to try a game with this race to see how it plays out. I'm playing (DMing actually) for the first time, so hopefully some e...

Vespertine Race
Hello, first post here! I have been working on a setting called Isles of Maga, and a race I have been trying to develop are a bat-folk called Vespertines. I thought it seemed kind of original and maybe it would be good to go with BFRPG. I have not tested it in play yet, so it might be over/underpowe...
