Opening the door as quickly and quietly as he could, Shybolt saw Irena, suspended upside-down in the middle of the next room and surrounded by troglodytes. The stench of them washed over him, but Shybolt forced himself to ignore it. Grumm and Timorel were likewise able to handle the horrid stench, but it overcame Brother Arven and caused Harald to retch violently.
Shybolt could see that Irena was bound and hung by her ankles from a rope, which ran through an eyebolt in the ceiling, then to a second eyebolt in the odd inward-facing corner to the northwest, where it was tied in a rough slipknot. Then he realized she was, in fact, suspended over an open pit in the middle of the floor.
The troglodytes were chanting loudly, and did not appear to have noticed the open door.
In other words, you have surprise.

Shybolt will wait for Timorel to cast sleep at a spot on the other side of the pit (more than 30' from me) then will race in to attack any trog that saves, hopefully the one right in front of him that might be able to be a backstab since he is surprised.
Grumm considers jumping in and yelling "Surprise", but instead he'll wait for the spell to be cast and then rush in to assist Shybolt. If any trog looks like they're about to cut the rope, he'll attempt to slam into them to stop it.
Timorel cast his Sleep spell into the room, and two of the troglodytes fell immediately. The remaining troglodyte, the one on the south side, turned to face the adventurers, looking incredulous, as Shybolt and Grumm rushed in to attack him. Unfortunately for the adventurers, neither of them managed to land a blow.
Shybolt has the initiative for the next round, but Grumm, Timorel, and Brother Arven all failed to beat the troglodyte.
If Timorel can join the melee with his sword, he will. Otherwise, sword ready, he'll move to the pit and look to see what's in it, and he'll look to see how the girl is suspended and what would need to be done to free her.
