When he gets to the door he;ll lean in close and listen to hear what he can hear.
Doughbert scans your surroundings nervously [rolls], but he can't spot any obvious vantage points from where you might be watched. Encouraged, he advances cautiously towards the door, presses his ear against it and listens [rolls]. Beyond, all seems quiet.

doughbert inspects the door and the area around it for traps. If he finds none he will then check to see if the door is locked.

Stairs

Post by JoeCarr28 »

Doughbert searches the door and its immediate surroundings for traps, but doesn't find any.

Trying the door, Doughbert finds it to be unlocked. He opens it a fraction and peers through the gap. In the available light, he can just make out a steep flight of stairs heading downwards into the dark.

Tannen leads the group as quietly as he is able into the room, looking around and above for anything out of place, towards the top of the stairs.

No, he can't see anyone else around. And it's not particularly dank as it happens. The air coming up the stairway certainly doesn't smell fresh, but it's not particularly cold and damp.

Just to clarify ... you're not in any room yet. You're standing in an alleyway, outside a door. Beyond the door, stairs lead downwards.

Ah, OK. Thanks.

"Can anyone see in the dark?" Tannen asks in hushed tones

"Looks like we'll need that lantern." Tannen checks that his sword is loose and accessible in its scabbard

Nivek replies, "I see well enough in the darkness but that does little for the rest of ye. Lanterns are probably the best for us all."
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Paldain sighs. Benoni, fire up the lantern, he says. Once Benoni is ready Paladin cautiously goes down the stairs, looking for tripwires and othe unpleasantry as he goes. Benoni follows holding the lantern high, shield on the other arm.
