(Yeah, that about covers it - in the interest of expediting, Mandross brought Leo up to speed on the party)
(Also, between Kitchener and Dinner, Mandross would have picked up a small sack of apples. - cost?)

Mandross gives his best smile, looking as friendly as can be, and starts looking over the wagons with an appraising eye. He's looking at how well cared-for they are, and how well secured - he'd hate to be blamed for losses due to poorly maintained equipment.

If the teamsters are here, he'll engage in brief pleasantries. Unless someone has a more tactical plan, he'll aim for a middle wagon, preferably with a friendly driver.
Go with a smile!

"We ought to pair up as those who have a bow and can use it with someone who has naught," Leo advises. "At least one bow or crossbow per wagon and the other to be ready to jump from the wagon should need be."

With that he waits to see how the rest organize...

sounds like a good plan to me. With that, Doughbert carefully climbs up on the back of the first wagon. he'll do the same as Mandross and inspect the wagon carefully before climbing up to make sure nothing will break before he gets on.

Benoni stumbles out of the Wheatsheaf Inn wearing a rather large hat and a cloak of unbecoming color. Both look like they would fit a man not of Benoni's size. He's oddly attired with two shields slung so that either can be easily reached, not a normal configuration. Dangling from his clenched hands is a limp halfling, attired for the road. Benoni places each step very carefully until he reaches the last wagon, the one furthest from Shaw. He then clambers on the back of it, gently easing the halfling up onto the roof.

Paladin gives out a little groan and crawls his way out of sight, presumably lying down in the middle of the roof. Benoni smiles crookedly and tries to be unobtrusive.

Four Wagons

Post by JoeCarr28 »

The four wagons are all heavily weathered and have clearly been well-used. It looks like they were once garishly painted in Shaw’s livery, but now the paint is faded and peeling. However, despite being worn, the wagons appear structurally sound.

The first wagon is loaded precariously with a tottering tower of straw bales. They’re all roped down, but if the wind gets up things might get interesting.

The next, as described by Benoni, is completely covered with oiled tarpaulins. It’s not possible to see what the cargo underneath might be.

Wagon three is stacked with wooden boxes full of fruit and vegetables - the results of a good harvest.

The fourth wagon is also stacked with wooden boxes, although these have all been nailed shut and there’s no indication as to what they contain.

Each wagon is pulled by two stout horses under the guidance of a driver. There’s one seat next to each driver, and space for two more passengers at the back. All the drivers are rather sullen and uncommunicative, despite Mandross's friendly approaches.

Nivek finds a space on one of the two center wagons (2 or 3), perhaps on some rear-facing spot. From their he intends keep vigil against those approaching from our flanks/rear.

Wagon Buddies

Post by JoeCarr28 »

So it looks like we have something along the lines of:

- Wagon 1: Shaw + driver (front); Doughbert (back).

- Wagon 2: Mandross + driver (front); Nivek (back).

- Wagon 3: Leo + driver (front); Gannicus (back).

- Wagon 4: Tannen + driver (front); Benoni (back); Paladin (roof).

OK? Any changes? Ready to roll?
