Dimirag's Barbarian

Post by Dimirag »

This is my take on this classical Class, its more combat oriented.
Again, sorry any misspelling or text error...

Interesting different method/mechanic for making the Barbarian Tougher (stamina). Well thought out too, however, I wonder that it brings another entire set of figures to track (and on shorter time frames too). I too think that such quality (toughness) really is the defining feature of Barbarians, however, I think I would stick to the method used in the Quasi-Class version... it is just a more elegant solution (simple reduction of damage, and series of other related bonuses).
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

I've though of the Damage Reduction mechanism but prefer the Stamina because:
1-It works as the extra HP gained by the typical "Fury"
2-It uses the HD system instead of adding another system (i've never really like it the DR as it helps to enter the "why Armors don't reduce damage" thing).
3-I was looking for a different approach for the class. :D

I did not mean it was not necessarily a good mechanic, just seems a little cumbersome overall (at least to me... I like stuff pretty simple, which is surprising with all the various stuff I include in my games).

BFRPG is wonderful in that different approaches to various aspects can be easily layered on. One can take or leave parts so fluidly to produce exactly what results are desired. Not so easy with other games/editions which are more complex at their foundation or base.

Thats exactly what I like about BFRPG.
I'm currently playing AD&D (over 5 consecutive years and counting) so I tend to take approaches that diverge from the "standard" class (the less "copy-paste" the better).

upload version 1.2.
Changes:
Minor grammatical corrections.
Changes Fatigue Point to a flat value (less dice rolls) and incorporate a Fatigue-Armor relationship, this is principally to allow "naked barbarians" or barbarians that for different reasons (culture, technology, beliefs, etc.) don't use some of the permitted armors get some benefit at the cost of the AC loss.
Hope you enjoy it and be useful to you.
