Optional Armor Damage

I was inspired by the Palladium system to add this to Basic Fantasy. It takes their system and merges it into the hardness/hp system used for vehicles in Basic Fantasy. I haven't tested this yet so the numbers may need adjusting.

With the Optional Armor Damage rules, the How to Attack section is modified as follows:

How to Attack

If the total is equal to or greater than the opponent's Armor Class, the attack hits and damage is rolled. If the total is higher than 11 + the target's Dex modifier but less than the target's AC, you hit their armor and roll damage against it.

When armor takes damage equal to or greater its listed HP, AC is reduced by one. If it takes that much again, the armor is useless and all AC from that armor is lost. If the target is using armor and a shield, roll a d6. If you roll a 1 or 2, you hit the armor. Otherwise, you hit the shield.

Armor Hardness / HP
Leather 1 / 6
Chain 2 / 10
Plate 3 / 16
Shield 3 / 8

Damaged armor that has taken damage less than twice its HP can be repaired by an armorer.

One problem with this is the Dex modifier as it makes characters with good reflex being struck always on their armor.
I would change the base value to 11 + Dex modifier.
Less than base value = Missed/dodged
Between base value and AC = armor hit
Above AC = character hit

Ah, you're right. I forgot about the dex modifier. It should be how you say.

You've put an asterisk with the shield. Is that meant to address to a side note?

I was going to put the armor & shield rule as an asterisk note but integrated it into the text instead. I'll remove the *.

I've corrected your page styles and fixed up the OGL text; you had not corrected the name of the work (in the first paragraph) nor added your own copyright statement in section 17. I also corrected the copyright dates for the Core Rules to match the current OGL text. Finally, I updated the release to 2. The revised text is attached.

In the latest release by Solo there is an extra page after the OGL. I've noticed this a few other places on this site. Is that just a byproduct of copy pasting, or does there have to be a minimum margin?
