Combat Options Supplement
Re: Combat Options Supplement
If you are going to put in a revised copy, insert the Light Weapons (Dexterity bonus to Hit). That one works well to help a Dex based fighter remain viable along a Str based one... I have used it in and really found no balance issues (mostly because STR still is the stat for the damage roll, and the fact that the applicable weapons typically do less damage anyhow).
The other "Two-Hander Style" works well too, but you (Solo) had reservations. I still think it should have a place in this Document (being the only applicable spot at this time for either of these).

Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?

Re: Combat Options Supplement
shield splinter is a defensive response, sunder implies a break attempt.
Sacrifice Defense or some such?

I really think the name ought to be left as is-- it's become fairly popular in the last several years under that name. Changing it I think, would smack of pretense.
Re: Combat Options Supplement
I wonder if Sunder could be the same thing from the offensive side.. sacrifice a critical to destroy an opponents shield..

Re: Combat Options Supplement
You might add small note on Shield Specialization, that if the Game Master utilizes other non-standard shield types (such as found in the Armor & Shield Supplement) then the character must acquire specialization in each such type.
Likewise something similar for the Armor section, but that is already sort of assumed.
Which also makes me think of something that ought to be addressed by the Armor Supplement... going there next.

Re: Combat Options Supplement
I'm not sure I fully understand this section.
Does this mean he can only spend 1 specialization slot on a shield, giving him a total AC bonus of +2 (1 for the shield and 1 for specialization) or can he spend 2 specialization slots on a shield, for a total AC bonus of +3 (+1 for the shield and 2 for specialization.)?Shield specialist
A fighter character may sacrifice a specialization rank to gain a + 1 to AC when wielding a shield, up to a maximum of +2.

Re: Combat Options Supplement
I think it's the latter.
I'd prefer "spend" or "use" instead of "sacrifice."

I agree with Solo on both counts.
