Re: Character advancement = completely confused
Glad you guys have found the game, and I hope you enjoy it! I'd recommend looking at the game and the rules without preconceived notions as much as possible. Try not to bring your ideas of how things work from other editions if you can avoid it. The idea of increasing ability scores, for example, is...

Re: Digest-sized books?
As long as it's for personal use, you just can't print and resell. It's no different than printing at home.bugleyman wrote: That's a great idea, but is that an acceptable use of the material?

Re: Digest-sized books?
Jumping in with a stray thought or two... I haven't looked at Chiisu's digest version in a while, but it is up to date with the current version R107. I have it on my tablet and it looks great - full-sized fonts that are easy to read on the smaller page size. Nicely re-formatted, and just some of the...

Re: A Comment on the "Companion"/Advanced Question
The blog post on Rangers is up. Hopefully this style of writing vill be useful to new players. Excellent post, Longman. I think it does a great job of showcasing the enormous flexibility of BFRPG. Rangers were a great choice given the variety of interpretations, and I expect your magic-user post wi...

Re: Healing Option
Even when one allows spontaneous swapping of spells for healing instead, one will still tend to get clerics that choose the healing when the need is on them. So, no real substantive change in going this route... and I agree, like noted above, they hold onto spells so that they don't lose this heali...

Re: Healing Option
Seems to be a fair, balanced option as presented, including Smoot's clarification of how the "pool" can be split over over the course of the day. In our games, clerics don't need to memorize healing spells at all - they fill their slots with everything else, but can always burn an appropri...

Re: A Comment on the "Companion" Question
Sounds like a great article - I look forward to it, and others to follow in the same vein. Even without active links to the material you discuss, it sounds like these will be interesting and informative.Longman wrote: My first post on rangers (drafted) is trying to cover a range of issues:

Re: A Comment on the "Companion" Question
Painted into a corner, indeed. The game, YOUR game, is what you made it. What you wanted it to be. If you are content, then so be it. The rest of us can dissect it, expand it, and argue until we're blue in the face, but if in your mind it's a finished product as it stands now, there isn't much else ...

Re: A Comment on the "Companion" Question
Interesting discussion - and yes, one we've seen before... My option, for what that's worth as a very infrequent poster here, is this. I personally do like the fact that everything is available as discreet additions, which does allow GMs to pick and choose, to build out their worlds as we see fit, o...

Re: Let me tell you about my day...
Scary business indeed. My 16yo daughter totaled her 2014 Ford Escape late last summer - hit head on at an intersection almost like you. Amazingly, her and all three friends with her walked away with just scrapes and bruises. Could have so easily been much, much worse.
